is a verb which describes something that someone or something is doing
. Verbs like jump
, and run
are obvious action verbs. Some less obvious action verbs are words like sleep
, which don't seem very "active"; they are, nevertheless, things that someone or something can do
so they are action verbs.
Some verbs are used as action verbs sometimes
, but not always.I felt fine.I felt the top of my head.
In the first sentence, felt
is a linking verb
, but in the second, it describes an action.See AlsoTransitive VerbsLinking VerbsCopyright 2010 Douglas. All rights reserved. FifteenMinutesOfFiction.com has been granted non-exclusive rights to display this work. For permission to reprint this item, please contact the author.
