summer poem

The summer fades and you will go
and with the winter comes the snow

you will be gone and I will cry
I'll go on with my life and sigh

"There will be no more lakes to swim
or painted faces on our chin

or night time games of 'hide-and-seek'
and simple fun from week to week

but we'll remember all the fun
of burning in that summer sun

you'll come back and we'll play that game
but it will never be the same

'cause fall will come and you'll be gone
and I will sing a sad, sweet song"
