Paper Girl

There's a picture of a girl on my wall.
She said I have to be perfect.
How can I be perfect
When I am flesh and bone,
Not paper, plastic or perfume.
She said I should lose weight,
Said my arms aren't thin enough.

Somebody destroy this paper girl.
What does she know of my world?
She's a cutout, an expression.
A huge impression
On the millions of real girls
who turn their beauty plastic.

Remember,
It's not murder to burn paper.
But it is murder when a beautiful girl burns herself,
because she was told she should be perfect.

A very nice premise. I've added this to the featured gallery. Welcome to the site! :)

:) I'm glad I could help. I have a huge collage of cut outs from seventeen magazine and cosmo & such on a wall in my bedroom, and one day I just got sick of seeing those unrealistic images.

I totally understand the message behind this, and I relate. You relay it beautifully. Well done!
