Like broken bodies scattered o’er the landscape of the years, Those New Year resolutions blight my soul with countless tears.
Oh, how I loathe the weaknesses revealed by how I’ve failed. The guilt! The shame! “I’m such a loser!” often times I’ve wailed.
But things will change with this New Year. Yes, just you wait and see. From here on out, I'm going to be a very different me.
I shall not fail another time. I’ve got it figured now. I promise that I’ll never make another New Year vow.

Comments Douglas Dec 30, 2009 | I like it! :) I stumbled over the rhythm on the line with "difference", because I tend to pronounce it as a two-syllable word (diff'rence). ~Posted by Douglas, Dec 30, 2009 | Maine Character Feb 25 | My New Year's Resolution is to get one. :( ~Posted by Maine Character, Feb 25 |
