Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by 'Chelle on January 15, 2010

So Much Trouble

I had no idea so much trouble
could be caused by one little dime,
But looking back at the pile of rubble
I wish I had known at the time!

If the coin and my hand hadn't parted,
If I hadn't stopped to bend down,
This whole big affair wouldn't have started
Backing up traffic all over town!

The mad cabbie wouldn't have had to swerve,
And the vendors wouldn't have ducked,
Five cars wouldn't have piled up on the curve
If I hadn't that silly dime plucked.

As it was, the shock of the screeching
And the bumber brushing my thigh,
Made me miss the wee coin I was reaching
And trembling, brush a tear from my eye.

The Australian gecko upped his prices
And what I am paying this time
Makes me certain that lizards have vices
And I wish I had just lost the dime.
