Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by du courage on March 23, 2014
"Here is how my story would start. Strange enough I still don't know myself how the story will unfold. "

The First paragraph

It's midwinter. The air cold and the sun bleak and powerless. Just as the day it all started long ago. The thought of it still brings a chill to my spine. The chill in my bones never left me since that day long ago.
Put a log on the fire, my child! Grandpa feels weary and cold.
One day I'll have to tell. One of them. Maybe this grandson, my favorite. The story must be told before my passing. It's part of the family story. Not the nicest part or the best, but an essential one, it is.
It must be told. One day. But today is not that day.
Put a log on the fire my child. I'm feeling old and cold, so very cold, like life is seeping from the bones.
