One fine morning, I stepped outside
greeted my horse, went for a ride
The sun was shining from above
my heart was feeling full of love

In future, I would be a bride
With my true love, I will abide
But now I just enjoy this day
The country lane, the smell of hay

Forget the past, the tears I cried
enjoy this moment and the ride
the feel of horse, the gentle breeze
the swish of leaves on ancient trees

Nice picture, nice rhythm and rime.

The more I read it, the better it gets. The parts about love and horses remind me of my youth, but that’s not what I like best.
It’s ironic to me that this poem is called ”First Line”, since it’s the last line that I really relish. There’s just something about that phrase, “the swish of leaves on ancient trees”. Never heard it said like that before, but now I have, and I like it.
