I'm a recent college graduate, now in full possession of an English degree. And no, I don't want to teach. Right now my career aspiration is to continue publishing works of fiction on as many blogs as possible until someone famous notices it and gives me a book deal. Well okay, that isn't likely to happen, but honestly, I write because I enjoy it, and I don't really plan on making creative writing my career. Right now I work in an office, filing and answering the phone, but I'm getting good work experience, and I like it. Anyway... none of that is really all that important. What's most important is that I'm a Christian, and I believe that my life is in God's hands, so that's where I'd like to keep it. I want my writing to be able to stand out from a lot of what was produced in my writing classes, by holding to some form of hope and rejecting the cynicism and negativity that's so commonplace out there. I have a long way to go, but I'm hoping to have time to post here, and get more like-minded feedback :-)
Reading ListMy FavoritesMessages Peter-Twitchell Mar 4 | yes i have read the young Carthaginain | Peter-Twitchell Mar 3 | are you the one who hiked cranbarry with me? | lostcerebellum Dec 31, 2009 | Have you tried typing “the sound of snow” into Google search? Your poem comes up near the top of the second page. I just thought it was interesting, considering how hard people work to get rated up in Google searches. | Jeff Howe Dec 8, 2009 | I actually haven't been to this site for quite some time. But I get email notifications when someone sends me a message. I put a couple up for your consideration. J. | Jeff Howe Dec 8, 2009 | Hi Laura...
I currently have on file 486 poems that I've written. Of that 486 there must be 4, maybe 5, that are worth posting :-)
Thanks for the message.

I enjoy your writing and hope you keep up the good work. | wordsmith Jul 6, 2009 | I'm actually spending the summer in Scotland for study abroad. I will be in Scotland for another two and a half weeks. I don't want to leave, it's so nice here and I've been having a wonderful time. | ysha may Jan 12, 2009 | really like and enjoy your writing | Jeff Howe Dec 20, 2008 | Thank you Laura. Appreciate the comments. Jeff | Scribbler Jul 26, 2008 | Thanks. It was a bit of a challenge and of course it took more than 4 minutes - that was my cut & paste & re-read time. | Douglas May 6, 2008 | Thanks! By the way, I did go see Iron Man, and I really loved it. I went with pretty low expectations, and was very pleasantly surprised. | Mathax Apr 3, 2008 | *wonders if Laura is still among the living* | Douglas Feb 25, 2008 | Well, I spent most of last week fighting off the latest intestinal bug that's been making the rounds...then had to go run a winter retreat (while I was still sick! :P). Fortunately running the retreat is pretty easy, since there are so many leaders involved.
Anyway, I'm feeling much better now, but am resting and relaxing today! You should try to find time to do the same. ;) | Douglas Feb 25, 2008 | *wonders if Laura is still among the living* ;) | Douglas Nov 4, 2007 | oooh...the adventures of captain whitebeard...sounds cool. :)
By the way, on your "My Writing" page, you can set up a "Serial Writing" page, so that people who visit one of the Whitebeard pages will get directed to read them in the correct order. |
