Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by Rabbit Stu on September 8, 2008

Deliberate Ignorance

In truth, I find it quite appalling
When friends of mine who should know better,
With ignorance extremely galling,
Pass on a stupid spammy letter...
About a thumb that's in a coke,
Or beetles that are mashed and stewed
And cause a little girl to choke,
When served up in McDonald's food.

Deliberate ignorance is great!
Deliberate ignorance is grand!
Let's see which fools will take the bait,
And spread our lies across the land!

"Bill Gates will give you all his dough!"
"A baby born with seven heads!"
"O'hare is banning Christian shows
(even though she is long dead!)"
"Obama won't salute the flag,
Because he is unpatriotic,"
I wonder if it's just a gag;
These letters are so idiotic.

Deliberate ignorance is great!
Deliberate ignorance is grand!
Let's see which fools will take the bait,
And spread our lies across the land!

So when you get that stupid spam,
Remember that each one's a test.
It shows what sort of man I am;
Am I a sucker, like the rest?
Unlike those other foolish dopes,
I will not spread their contradiction;
I'll do my research here on "Snopes,"
Or look it up on "Truth or Fiction."

Deliberate ignorance is dumb!
Deliberate ignorance is lame!
So please don't let yourself succumb
To playing in their stupid game!
