"Can we change history with time travel?"

Bill Clinton Visits President Wilson

Once we discovered how to travel between parallel universes time travel was not really a problem. After much debate on where to go, it was decided to go back to the first meeting of the League of Nations. The decision to send Bill Clinton met with a lot of dissension by people who felt he was not qualified to do the job. However Clinton's resume made him the most qualified, after all he was the president for eight years, a Rhodes Scholar, and quite a diplomat who was not only easy to understand but also easy to like.

He took enough toys to make it easy to convince people he was from the future, laptops, portable DVD player, digital cameras and so on. We beamed him into Woodrow Wilson's bedroom to eliminate the need for lengthily explanations to underlings. No need to say Wilson was not only frightened but astonished to see President Clinton, but as a smart man it didn't take him long to be convinced.

Number one on Clinton's agenda was to show Wilson how helping post war Germany instead of punishing them would prevent World War 2. With Germany, not having a major collapse of their economy Hitler became nothing but a side bar never achieving enough backing to become dogcatcher let alone chancellor. Instead of World War 2, we had another Ten years of peaceful cooperation worldwide turning Earth into a true global village.

Each world power was assigned a social and an economic problem to fix and it didn't take too long to find a cure for the major diseases. Furthermore, by not trying to develop the atomic bomb we used our brain trusts to develop alternate fuel sources eliminating our need for fossil fuel and stopping global warming before it even started. The Middle East allied together to turn the desert into a lush farmland by turning the Dead Sea into fresh water for farming. By eliminating poverty and starvation, the communists and religious fanatics of the world had no base of people to recruit and thus became minority factions.

As we now look into the future seeking new planets to colonize we know as a peaceful world we can overcome any problem and we have William Clinton to thank for our success.
