My Secret Recipe for Weight Loss

My favorite recipes has always been, hop in car and drive to nearest fast food restaurant; order from clown; pull forward to window, get food; consume. As you may guess this week's assignment would historically have been a lesson in futility, however, this year mainly because of my favorite recipe I have been on a diet. The basic recipe for weight loss is no secret you merely burn off more calories than you consume. Yet we all know it is the nuances that a good chef puts into his recipe to make it a success.

My Personal Recipe for Successful Weight Loss:
1. Instead of 2 or 3 big meals a day, I eat 5 to 6 smaller meals consisting of a balanced mix of around 300 calories. Each meal should have a mix of 30 grams of carbohydrates, 23 grams of protein and 10 grams of fat.
2. Exercise along with caloric reduction is a very important part of weight loss. Any type of cardio, an exercise that increases heart rate, is good but most important is to know that it is best for fat loss to keep the elevated heart rate for longer than 15 minutes as after 15 minutes of cardio you start to burn true body fat.
3. You must drink at least 80 ounces of water per day, not only does this help to hydrate you it also helps to keep you feeling full so you eat less.
Mix all of the above along with determination and will power and I will guarantee you will lose weight (personally, I have lost 43 pounds so far this year).

One of the items I have learned to cook this year is my special one bowl breakfast consisting of the following:
3/4 cup of Quaker Old Fashion Oats
4 teaspoons of vanilla flavored protein power
1 teaspoon unsweetened coconut
1/4 cup unsweetened strawberries (either fresh or frozen)
1/4 teaspoon olive oil
3/4 cup water
Mix all ingredients together and microwave for 2 minutes, then eat and enjoy. This cereal contains 32 grams of carbs, 23 grams of proteins and 12 grams of fat with total calories being 328. Believe me when I tell you the taste is delicious.
