Back to School

Back to school is always the best time of the year for us parents, it has been a long summer, everyone is bored and whether the kids admit it or not, they're glad as well. As a parent you're tired of being camp councilor, alway trying to think of something to keep the kids occupied, always the hardest part of summer.

The reality of back to school hits home when you take them shopping for clothes and supplies. After you mediate a settlement between 'fashion' and sense for clothes you have to study all the notebooks for that perfect one that will guarantee an A because it has all the bells and whistles. We parents know there is no such thing but our children don't.

Even the panic of that first day and the return of a morning routine that has been forgotten during summer is worth it once it has been established. At the end of the first day, to hear all the trauma of the new schedule that seems to mesh into the new school year is like a rite of passage. By the second week we all appear to have accepted the good and the bad begin the school year in earnest. By the end of the first month we all are wondering how long till winter break.
