Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by Trent on September 22, 2007
"Upon reading Douglas' question about an ancient saying, I felt rather compelled to reply."

The Value of One Bird

A question arose regarding
A saying concerning two birds
Historically there is a problem
Allow me to share what I've learned

Though singing is fine for a modern
We are much amused by the sound
But to the ancient one forming the saying
A more practical use would be found

For killing a bird is not easy
It takes certain patience and skill
To a stomach grown small by hunger
The two are just two more to kill

But the one in his hand is more likely
To taste rather sweet in a stew
So better "the one" to the ancient
Then "the two" who he scared and they flew
